Apply for Parks and Recreation’s Summer Performing Arts Series

November 21, 2010

The City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department is seeking musicians and bands to apply to participate in the 2011 summer Performing Arts Series, which takes place May through September in City parks throughout Bloomington.

According to Kristy LeVert, Program Specialist with the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, performers are selected based on type and quality of performance, availability, past performance record, cost and sponsor interest.

“Our summer series of outdoor concerts and theatrical performances entices both residents and visitors to visit and enjoy our City parks,” LeVert said. “Not only does the Performing Arts Series showcase local talent, it also is an opportunity for people to visit with neighbors and build a sense of community.”

Those interested in applying to perform next summer must submit an artist application, two current photos, a CD or DVD, and any recent publicity that has been printed for the group, to the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department.

Applications must be received by December 10 at 5 p.m. to receive full consideration.

The schedule of performances includes Peoples Park Lunch Concerts, Tuesdays May through September; Third Street Park, June through August; and Bryan Park, Sunday evenings in July and August.

For more information about the Summer 2011 Performing Arts Series or to request an artist application, contact Kristy LeVert at 349-3725 or via e-mail at levertk@bloomington.in.gov. Artist applications are also available online.
