Community Radio Station WFHB has recently launched a new program called the Local Music Collection Drive, with the goal of making it easier for musicians to submit their music for airplay consideration. Programming independently for southern Indiana since 1993, WFHB has made a commitment to providing music, news, and information specific to its community. The station already has a large local music collection and has been dedicating airspace for local musicians for years including the current Local Music Show which airs from 9-11 PM on Wednesday evenings and Local Live – an in-studio performance/interview program that airs at 9:30 PM during the Local Music Show.
As an indenpendent and volunteer-run station, music programmers are able to handpick the music played on the station and are encouraged to play local music during their programs. The station would like to see more local musicians taking advantage of the opportunities available with local radio play. Now, in addition to bringing music to the WFHB station (located at 108 W Fourth Street), musicians can bring a labeled copy of their music to the following locations to be picked up and reviewed for airplay consideration:
- The Bishop (123 S Walnut St.)
- Landlocked Music (201 N Walnut St.)
- Max’s Place (108 W Sixth St.)
- Melody Music Shop (402 W Sixth St.)
- Rewind Records & Recording Studio (118 E Sixth St.)
- Rhino’s Youth Center (331 S Walnut St.)
- TD’s CDs and LPs (322 E Kirkwood Ave.)
- Vance Music Center (112 W Sixth St.)
