Bloomington Area Music (BAM) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization working to enrich and cultivate the distinct music community in Bloomington, Indiana. BAM is entirely comprised of volunteer musicians and music supporters who feel strongly about this environment and are committed to supporting, promoting and growing the music community.

BAM exists to meet the following needs we recognize in the community:

• A comprehensive music resource inclusive of all genres, venues and events
• A polestar to access these resources
• A bridge for listeners and musicians to explore unfamiliar genres
• A catalyst to gain regional and national exposure for Bloomington as a musical destination
• A forum and a facilitator for conversation on issues regarding the music community

To satisfy these needs BAM’s 2011 efforts include five primary projects that collectively target musicians, local music consumers and other local residents and visitors:

• Web resources
• Downtown display cases
• A free printed weekly calendar of music events
• A networking event series
• A local music campaign, Listen Closely
